Organic Products

roducts which are organic or ‘natural’ are very important in the baby market. We hear so much about the dangers of chemicals and parents naturally want the best for their baby.

So products made from pure wool will always command a premium over poly ‘whatevers’. They may be more expensive but they will still sell. Organic cotton is another sort-after fabric and bamboo is becoming popular – with good cause as it is soft and very absorbent.

One area where organic and natural play a big part is in toiletries. Parents are very concerned about what they put on baby’s skin and whereas the supermarkets may dominate this market, parents can be a little suspicious of the offerings there. An independent retailer can explain and reassure parents.

If you don’t currently stock these lines, maybe it’s time to try.

Aqua Wipes - kind to newborn skin...AND the environment

Wet wipes are an essential item for parents and parents-to-be. From tackling nappy changing to cleaning messy faces, mopping up spills and wiping sticky fingers.

However, their existence is now under scrutiny due to the damage they are having on the environment and the realisation that, like so many other everyday throwaway items, they contain plastic.

According to Water UK1, the trade body representing the main water and sewerage companies in the country, wet wipes are not only responsible for a staggering 93% of blockages in UK sewers, they are also the primary component of the infamous giant obstacles known as ‘fatbergs’.

However, for parents who can’t be without their trusty packet of baby wipes by their side, there is an alternative! Aqua Wipes are the new fully biodegradable baby wipes created to be kind to the environment AND baby’s skin.

These revolutionary wipes do not use plastic-based materials and contain 99.6% purified water with an organic Aloe Vera extract formulation. Used by special care baby units, neonatal and maternity departments across the NHS and registered with the Vegan Society, Aqua Wipes are created with the environment in mind, while caring for even the most delicate newborn skin.

Dr Mark Little, Founder, Aqua Wipes commented: “When we developed Aqua Wipes we wanted to create a baby wipe that was different. By using a biodegradable fabric, we knew we could minimise the amount of cleansing ingredients used every day on a baby’s skin, which in turn would reduce the chance of irritation and allergies, while also being kind to the environment. In fact, the preservative we use in Aqua Wipes is a Food Grade preservative, approved for use in foods as well as cosmetics.”

Aqua Wipes are available in the following four pack sizes:
Single 64-wipe pack
256-wipe Value Bag (4 packs of 64 wipes)
144-wipe Value Travel Pack (12 packs of 12 wipes)
768-wipe Printed Carton (12 packs of 64 wipes)

New premium Baby Kingdom brand is born in the UK

A new premium British baby toiletries brand has entered the UK market with products which are designed to assist in protecting and improving skin and hair, ‘leaving babies smelling like babies’.

Baby Kingdom offer parents a safe, luxurious and effective collection that ‘parents can trust putting on their new-born babies and toddlers’.

The range includes baby shampoo, 2-1 hair & body wash, body cream, nappy cream and talc free baby powder.

Manufactured and formulated in the UK, Baby Kingdom is dermatologically tested, hypoallergenic, vegan-friendly, 100 per cent recyclable and suitable for sensitive skin.

The products are 97-99 per cent natural and free from sulphates, parabens and other harsh irritants. Ingredients include Aloe Vera, Chamomile, Nettle Extracts, Panthenol, Vitamin E, Coconut Oil, Argan Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Castor Oil and Shea Butter.

Founded by Robbie Mukherjee and Caroline Ivory, the pair set up Baby Kingdom as they felt there was a ‘gap in the market’ for a premium natural alternative to the existing baby toiletries currently available.

Caroline Ivory, Branding Manager at Baby Kingdom, said: “We are very excited about launching Baby Kingdom to the UK market and global market. We appreciate, when choosing baby products, a parent’s first priority is safety; a safe product which they can trust. As parents ourselves we are passionate about using safe, natural and organic ingredients, and keeping the brand as clean as possible.

“The ethos of our brand is based in ‘babies smelling like babies’ and this has been carefully considered when handpicking a gentle fragrance. We understand babies’ skin is delicate and sensitive, which is why we have taken the extra steps to certify the brand as hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested whilst creating a beautiful, traditional baby scent.

“Whilst Baby Kingdom products are not a prescription medicine, parents may find them useful when treating symptoms such as cradle cap, eczema, psoriasis, sunburn, nappy rash and dermatitis.”
