Cribs and Moses Baskets

A
sleeping baby in a decorated Moses basket is a beautiful sight and it is for this reason that many mothers buy one. They make a cosy place for baby to sleep during the day, and can often fit beside mum’s bed for easier night feeding. Many come supplied with handles to carry around the house. Moses baskets can be made from either palm or wicker. Palm is softer but this means that it is sometimes not firm enough to be used on a stand and will need to sit on the floor. A stand for a Moses basket can often double up as a stand for a baby bath which may tip the sale! The price of a Moses basket really depends on the material used to drape it. It can be simple but effective or very elaborate. Some designs have long skirts so that none of the basket is visible while some are short and some use ribbon entwined in the basket.

You can still get the old fashioned wooden rocking cradle which sits on the floor and there are a few swinging cribs which also have the practical advantage that they can swing and gently soothe a baby back to sleep. Finally there are cradles which are designed to fit besides mother’s bed for those first few months when waking up in the night is such a pain!

It is always a good idea to have one or two really extravagant ones on the shops floor to entice and beguile customers. A beautiful crib is one of the most attractive items on display in the shop!
