Wheeled Goods - Top End W e all know what she’s like. She’s done her research and has decided what she wants from her pushchair and what she wants is the best!! She’s probably set her heart on something you haven’t got n stock!! What to do?
I’m not going to preach as to the techniques of selling – at least not here!! This mum is less concerned about how much she is going to pay, but more about what she is getting for her money. So what will persuade her to buy? One of the problems with this type of customer is that she has set her heart on a particular model and when you talk to her you realise that that pushchair is completely wrong – she has a small house; a small car and wants something that doesn’t fold particularly compactly. Or she may enjoy taking the dog for a walk through the local woods and has decided she loves something that just won’t take that sort of treatment. One feature that often pushes up the price is whether the pushchair seat can face both forwards and backwards towards mum. The latest research shows that being able to talk to a young child is very important for his or her development. However, this mum is often less concerned about the practicalities. Her ‘must-haves’ are usually the brand name – she has to be seen with the right accessory! The style is often next on her list. Here there is so much to choose between. How many wheels does it have? Does she think three wheels are still the latest or are they passé? Are the wheels small, making the pushchair easy to guide around the fashionable boutiques or does she believe that the pram look is in? Should the chassis be like a pram or something a little more avant-garde? And of course, there is the question of the fabric – usually the make or break in the purchase decision. Here you need to offer choice – but perhaps not so much choice that she can’t make up her mind! The latest Oysters from Babystyle have lots of different options – mum could buy more than one to ring the changes. Now that would make her stand out form the crowd – a different pushchair every day of the week!! Many of the top of the range pushchairs come complete with all the extras – the cosytoes, the raincover, the changing bag all to match. Never mind that she might not want these, it all helps sell. |
