he market for general baby clothes is dominated by the big retailers – usually with product such as their own brand of stretchsuits, packaged in threes or fives. However, there is still a market for some of the basics in all nursery shops. Indeed, if the shop is aiming to be anything near a one-stop-shop for everything for baby, then a range of baby clothes is essential.

As baby grows, then fashion becomes more important and there are a number of shops specialising in children’s clothes which means that only the largest nursery retailers can compete.

However, there are still a number of more specialist items which even an average sized nursery store can consider – sunwear, organic cotton and anything that can be an impulse buy.
