TotsBots – the iconic brand in washable nappies – and more!
TotsBots began, like many of today’s new breed of nursery players, with a new mum, a new baby and a great idea. After the birth of her second child and five months into using terry squares, Fiona King took out her sewing machine and made up a batch of easy to use elasticated Velcro nappies.
The prototypes were tried out by friends – who told their friends – who told their friends – and soon they had a thriving cottage industry covering the bots of tots across Glasgow. Fiona came up with the name, partner Magnus designed the logo and with a couple of specialist internet stockists vying to sell their nappies, things started to move.
After nearly a year of working from home they moved into a unit and took on more staff to cope with the demand for their nappies.
Their big break came in January 2002 when The Times ran a large article on real nappies. The journalist put a range of brands to test and TotsBots came out top. As a result of the article sales doubled over night.
Shoot forward ten years and things are more than a little different for TotsBots.
Their nappy range has evolved through design and fabric innovation and their current nappy de jour is the once piece Easy Fit nappy, boasting indisposable convenience.
As TotsBots grew new additions to the family were born. The award winning Papoozle carrier – that took last years Mother & Baby awards by storm trouncing the established competition to be awarded best Carrier/Sling, the 3 in 1 Potty that has been a best seller since its launch and now the addition of Potion a new nappy washing detergent set to take the nappy laundering industry by storm.
TotsBots are now an iconic brand. They have a huge following of parents hanging on their every product launch and are a brand to watch.
